2002 Chateau Le Gay, Pomerol

Product: LGAY02
Vintage: 2002
Region: Pomerol
Bottle Size: 75cl
Grape Variety: Merlot Blend
Maturity: Ready to drink, but will improve
A deep saturated purple color is accompanied by aromas of plums, figs, and black cherry liqueur. This dense, full-bodied, muscular, firmly tannic Pomerol should be cellared for 5-8 years, and enjoyed over the following 10-20. This is clearly a property to watch now that it is in the hands of Catherine Pere-Verge, who is intent on taking it to the summit of Pomerol. In a challenging vintage for this appellation she has produced one of the most powerful and concentrated wines of the year (with the assistance of Michel Rolland). Bravo.
Score: 90-92 Robert Parker

Beautiful aromas of blackberries, smoky oak and sweet tobacco follow through to a full-bodied palate, with velvety tannins and a rich but slightly austere finish. A tad overextracted, but should come around nicely with bottle age. Best after 2007.
Score: 89 James Suckling, Wine Spectator

Our Tasting Note
Nose: Nose with beautiful aromas of vanilla, blackberries and plums.
Palate: Full bodied, complex structure on the palate, powerful but smooth tannins. Excellent aromas of blackberries, tobacco, spices and vanilla. Extremely long and lovely finish. Lovely to drink now and will last for 10 more years.
